Where We Work

Our work is focused on the Budondo Sub-county, located about 10 km north of Jinja’s city center. This area, home to approximately 75,000 people, is comprised of five parishes: Buwagi, Ivunamba, Namizi, Kibibi, and Nawangoma.

Ivan Yosiya. A Ugandan youth who grew up in the very Budondo community we serve, Ivan now resides in Washington, D.C., but has never forgotten his roots. He actively uses his skills, resources, and advocacy to contribute to the well-being of his home community, driving the foundation’s mission with passion and personal experience.

Our Background

The Kaliba Foundation, established in 2024, is named after its founder, Ivan Yosiya, affectionately called “Kaliba” (extraordinary) by the Budondo community. Ivan, a talented boxer and footballer, inspires through his exceptional skills, resilience, and positive impact on this marginalized community in Jinja, Uganda. The Foundation emerged from the community’s urgent needs, addressing poverty, lack of access to healthcare and education, and social injustices. Rooted in social justice and grassroots movements, the nonprofit emphasizes community participation, local focus, and providing essential services and capacity building to empower local populations and drive their own development.
